DSL Configuration Instructions

After the installation of an Ethernet Card is completed and the drivers are installed, the Card must be configured as follows: 

(When properly connected, the DSL modem should have Power, Line, and Ethernet Lights on, and the TX/RX light will flash intermittently.)

1. Click Start, then Settings, then Control Panel

2. Double click on the Network Icon.

3.   Under the Configuration tab, locate and click on TCP/IP-> followed by the description of the Ethernet Card. Then click on Properties.

**Make sure you do not choose the TCP/IP-> Dial up Adapter.

4. Click on the IP Address tab, then click on "Specify an IP Address."  

5. In the IP Address box enter _ _ _. _ _ _. _ _ _. _ _ _ (The Number provided by your provider)

6. In the Subnet Mask box enter 255.255.255.0 

7. Click on the Gateway tab. In the New Gateway box enter _ _ _. _ _ _. _ _ _.1 (the first three octets from line 5, the fourth octet is .1), then click Add.  

8. Click on the DNS Configuration tab. Click on "Enable DNS."  

9. In the Host box type your name (or whatever you wish). In the Domain box type farmerstel.com 

10. In the DNS Server Search Order box type 216.163.120.19 then click Add. 

11. Repeat previous step and type 216.163.120.21 then click Add

12. Click OK, then click OK again.  

13. Restart (boot) your system.  

14. After the boot is completed you may test your configuration using a Ping test. 

15.  Click Start, Programs, MS-DOS Prompt. At the prompt type Ping 12.27.205.1 and then Enter. You should get a successful reply. 

16. Configure your browser to Never dial a connection. You should be able to browse, email, etc.
